The story that we decided to read as a class was "Shoot To Kill." I really liked this story because I could really feel for the families and the cops. The question to answer is whether or not I believe the families of the Columbine victims should sue Jefferson County. From reading the text, you can definitely feel for the families of these victims. I am sure that it was not easy on them and that they are going through a very hard time. But I think that they need to step back and look at the big picture. These cops were not trained to do what they did. It was all new to them. They were putting their lives on the line to save everyone without any strategical advantage. I think that they did better than any of the family members could have done. There was no way to predict this event happening. The truth is it happened even though the consequences were not ideal. It is in the past and it cannot be changed. So why not change the future? I think that if the families sue Jefferson County they would just be wasting a lot of time and money. If they want to be useful to the community they should put all that energy and grief into promoting safety in their community.

Facebook. To have or not to have? I switch back and forth between the two decisions all the time. There are some great things about it as well as some not so great things about it. I think that social networking sites can be a wonderful tool. It has given us a remarkable ability to stay in touch with people who live far away from us, which is the case for me. While living in Canada I made a lot of great and lasting friendships. If it weren't for Facebook, I would have no, cheap way to keep in touch with them. But honestly, other than that, I think Facebook is a waste of time. It has become more of a popularity contest. You get people adding you that you don't even know. In that case you soon see on your wall, not people you would like to know what is going on in their lives, but random people whom you never really knew. I think that as a society we are losing all communication skills due to things like Facebook and texting. But I think that whether or not it becomes a good or bad tool is the way you use it.
